A New Susan Boyle Record This Christmas?

July 28th, 2010

British singing sensation Susan Boyle may be spreading some holiday cheer this Christmas.

According to U.S. retail sources, the singer is currently recording a Christmas album, Billboard.com reported. The details are unknown, but Boyle’s record company, Sony, is aiming for an October release date of her upcoming record.

Earlier this month, Boyle kicked off a singing competition in which someone could win the opportunity to duet with the singer on her new album. Contestants can enter “Susan’s Search” by uploading a video of them performing “Silent Night.”

According to Billboard, Boyle’s debut album, “I Dreamed a Dream,” sold over 3.7 millions copies in America, coming in second to Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” for last year’s total record sales.

Co-creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed that he has approached the Britain’s Got Talent runner-up about a part on the E4 hit.

He said he’d love the Scottish I Dreamed A Dream singer to appear as a dinner lady for a festive special.

He said: “Susan, I have two words for you: ‘Lunch. Lady’.

Look Forward To Susan Boyle’s Autobiography Next

April 21st, 2010

Britain’s Got Talent runner-up and record-breaking solo artist Susan Boyle is set to publish a memoir in autumn, reported UK publishing resource The Bookseller on April 19. The Woman I was Born to Be will look at Boyle’s “astonishing transformation” including “the trappings of celebrity” and “the whirlwind of attention and expectation.”

Boyle said: “When I strutted onto the stage for that audition, I was a scared wee lassie, still grieving for my mother, not caring how I looked. I think I’ve grown up a lot in the last year, become more of a lady, and I’m not so frightened anymore.

“I’m writing this book to try to show that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, and I hope it will benefit other people.”

Boyle’s memoir will be published by Transworld in the UK and Commonwealth and by Atria in the US.

Two unauthorized biographies about the reality TV star hit shelves in late January: Dreams Can Come True by Alice Montgomery and Living the Dream by John McShane.
